My Credentials
My Story
My Values
My specialist field is the non-profit sector (charities, social enterprises). I have chosen this direction because it is important to me to use my skills to help make a difference for people and communities.
As Communications is a transferable skill, I can work with a whole range of sectors and organisations from health to retail, from local start-ups to national franchises.
I firmly believe effective communications can make a profound difference to any organisation and is as important any other critical function business function.
I have worked in professional communications (including PR and marketing) for around 20 years, in London and more recently Plymouth and the South West.
For the last ten years I held senior management positions so am familiar with working with Boards and Executive Teams.
I have worked nationally in the homelessness sector (Centrepoint), international and domestic humanitarian aid (British Red Cross), and for a London local authority (Southwark).
Regionally in the South West I have worked in housing (Plymouth Community Homes). I also had two freelance contracts in Sydney in the health sector.
More recently as a freelancer I have worked for a peer parenting organisation (Parents 1st), a regional cancer charity (Big C) and an Independent regional retail chain (Lawsons).
What all these diverse organisations shared was a focus on people, a factor which is important to me.
I have significant professional experience to draw on as an independent freelancer, offering cost effective specialist support to a range of organisations.
